WE ARE THE SHELTER

The Shelter is a church. It’s a group of people getting together to live life and to worship a perfect Creator. We strive to create an environment where the hurt can be healed, and the healed can serve. Our passion is to be a loving community of believers who represent Christ in a practical way, every day.

We have a deep desire to see the individual change and growth into the person that God is calling them to be. This requires an open heart and a willingness to look inside oneself. We are Bible based and don’t spend time sugar coating things, yet our messages are extremely palatable and cognizant of individuals’ life situations. As a non-denominational church, we understand that everyone’s background is different – we don’t waste time trying to convince you to be a certain way. We believe it’s the Lord’s responsibility to do the work in each of us.

SUNDAYS
Our Sunday morning services are designed in such a way as to eliminate the typical roadblocks that get in the way of experiencing God in a corporate setting. We’ve created a safe and comfortable environment, believing that when people get out of the way, God can truly invade our hearts.

The Sabbath Experience is built to facilitate koinonia, the community, fellowship, communion and brotherhood of the members of the body and is the first of the three forms [koinonia (fellowship), song/music (immersion) and teaching (word)] of worship experienced on a given Sunday. Being used 19 times in the new testament, the greek koinonia was translated in the NASB to -- "fellowship" twelve times, "sharing" three times, and "participation" and "contribution" twice each. Our goal is to be the active movement of those translations.
